Question of the Day No. 30


A metallic sphere of radius 10.5 cm is melted and then recast into small cones each of radius 3.5 cm and height 3 cm. The number of cones thus formed are ?

a) 129     b) 128    c) 132   d) 126    e) None of these

    Correct Answer is 126
    Explanation : We have to just equate both volumes

    Volume of Sphere is : 4/3(pie)r^3
    Volume of cone is : 1/3(pie)r^2*h

    So 4/3*22/7*(10.5)^3=1/3*22/7*3.5*3 * No of Cones

    Solve it and you will 126 cones can be made from this sphere..
