Question of the Day No. 27


The average weight of 7 persons in a office is 45 kg. If One person whose weight is 54 kg. retired and another person whose weight is 68 kg replaced him. Find the new Average Weight ?

a) 45    b) 47  c) 43    d) 44    e) 46

    420= factors 2^2 * 3^1 * 5^1 * 7^1
    now add 1 to each power and multiply them...
    (2+1)*(1+1)*(1+1)*(1+1)=3*2*2*2=24

    Correct Answer is 47
    Explanation : Average = Sum of Observation/Number of Observations

    Previous Average is 45 and Number of People are 7 so Sum of their ages is 45*7 = 315
    If One person who retired aged 54 and replaces by a new person aged 68. We Difference of their ages (68-54=14) is added to the previous sum

    So, 315+14 = 329 New sum is 329 and number of people are still 7 so New Average is 329/7 = 47
